Or,
Things I Am Adoring this week.

So it’s totally been an eternity since I’ve done a “Lemon Loving” post! I’m getting on this like a runaway train.

I did something kinda silly the other day and bought a bathrobe. It is a light stretchy material and has an awesome damask pattern on it. I feel totally fabulous when I wear it around the house, and it’s a great alternative to a heavy sweater when I get a little chilly when the sun goes down.

I’m not going to lie, today I wore pigtails and I love them so much! They’re cute and fun and unique, since not a lot of ladies wear their hair like this anymore. I’m also a big fan of wearing my hair in two low buns. (But not quite the Leia look! I’m not that nerdy, I swear!)

Shorts! This is going to sound totally dumb, but as a semi-plus sized lady I’ve been rather terrified of showing off my legs for the last few years. This has resulted in legs the colour of computer paper (not even kidding here) and being overwhelmingly hot all summer. This year I’ve already purchased 2 pairs of shorts in the hopes of curing this fear. I love them, and it’s incredibly freeing to walk around all day in a different look than jeans.

Saturday Jane’s dance post!
I’m not even kidding when I say that this is the cutest blog post you’ll ever read. Jessica is extremely excited for her new apartment and had to share it with the world in the best way she knows how!

I’m generally a red-lipstick girl (L’Oreal’s British Red Coat lipstick, to be exact) but with the sunshiney weather (and my slight-freckle-tan) I’ve broken out my deep and light coloured pinks to much success! Like everything, it’s nice for a change, and it’s nice to experiment with new colours. A light peach colour or light pink lip can really dress up any look, and is just a nice way to start out a day.

I grew up with a batch of raspberries in my backyard, so I get extremely nostalgic an excited as soon as I see raspberries in stores and have my “first summer raspberry”. I love them so, I’ll eat an entire flat if nobody’s looking! I’m excited for the full array of berry-covered goodies that are coming in the next month. Mmmm berries!
Unruly things has a few lovely photos of berries, if you want to drool all over your computer.

I know I just said that I bought a bathrobe so that I wouldn’t have to break out my sweater whenever I get cold (which is about every five minutes) but I found this sweater at Ross for $7 and it is probably the coolest thing I’ve ever purchased. It’s houndstooth pink and gray, and the collar is soft and flexible so I can look like a smart businesswoman, or a air-hostess from the 60’s. It is FABULOUS and I’m kind of sad that it’s too hot right now to wear it, because I want to show it off!

These clear plastic boots from this post have got me droolin’. Just think of all the exciting looks you could pull off with these… coloured tights, cool socks, the possibilities are endless! It’d be like owning 10 different pairs of boots in one! I would promise not to wear my fuzzy cat socks with them, even. They’re that cool.

What things are you loving this week?

Or Things I Am Adoring This Week:

CO Bigelow’s Mentha Lip Tint $7.50

This lip tint comes in many light shades of red and pink and also has 2% peppermint!
For those of us who A) love peppermint, and B) have issues with metal mouth (I blame the retainer that the dentist has left in my mouth for 6 years now) this product is a lifesaver! I’ve never understood the point of using lip gloss before, but when I wear this I feel shiny and delicious and lovely.

My iPod / music device.

I rediscover my iPod every time when the weather decides to be nice enough to walk outside. Whether I’m walking to the bus stop or simply enjoying the (chance) moments of spring sunshine, my iPod has been glued to my hip this week, even more so than usual!
Suggested tunes for spring jamming:
Tonight: Franz Ferdinand. by Franz Ferdinand (at last.fm)
My favourite song: “Bite Hard”
We Started Nothing. by The Ting Tings (at last.fm)
My favourite song: “That’s Not My Name / We Walk / Great DJ” (I can’t decide!)
Any songs. by Imogen Heap (at last.fm) I can’t tell you what my favourite song is because I love all of them. Equally. Her music is wonderful and perfect for melancholy gray, or beautiful sunshine.

Rose Ring. From $6-$20, depending on where you go
(search results on etsy)

I have been wanting to buy myself a plastic rose ring for a coon’s age* and every few months I revisit the search results page on etsy.com to see if one has been made that I need. Someday I’ll actually buy one, (You know… the ONE I have envisioned in my miiind!) but until then I’ll just think about all of the outfits I could wear it with, and how appropriate it is for life right now. Hopeful, but still tiny.

*A friend of mine taught me that phrase, and then explained that it meant “a really really really really long time”. She actually uses it in day to day conversation! Am attempting to integrate it into my vocabulary, stat!

Heart in Oregon pin. $3

Guess where I live. Guess! GUESS.
I love this ad-campaign, and fully endorse it. I’m not sure if the company has started making hearts for other states yet, but I really thing this is a sweet way to show your patriotism/that you care about our local geography. And also that you embrace good design. (Which really, should be on everyone’s list.)
Anyway, I bought one of these pins a few weeks ago, and have been proudly wearing it on my jacket ever since!

I am loving this photo shoot:
“The Right Stuff” photographed by Arthur Elgort.
How awesome are these pictures? Pairing high fashion with astronauts needs to happen more often, I think.

Lubriderm SPF 15 Daily UV protection lotion $10

I know, I know, I could talk about the change in the weather until your eyes bleed, but I tend to forget while my world is bathed in gloomy gray that there’s this Thing. Called The Sun. That you should be aware of. It began to peek out this month and I ran outside for a few minutes to play frisbee with my family (Why yes, we are so Leave It To Beaver!) and this happened:

Me: “Ahhhhhh! Sunshine!”
My body: “Let’s work up a sweat, while running around with a frisbee!”
Me: “Okay!”
My skin: “Yaknow, we don’t think this is a good idea…”
My body: “Man, it really is freaking hot out here, in the sunshine, having a blast. Let’s take off this jacket, sweatshirt and long-sleeved shirt!”
Me: “Okay!”
My skin: “We’re not sure… we’ve been living in the caves for these past five years and…”
Me: “Nah, don’t be a wuss, it feels nice!”
My skin: “Y-yeah! We guess you’re right! We LIKE the sun! We LOVE the–AUGGGHGGHHH!”
Me: “Dude, wtf?”
My skin: “IT BURRRNS USSSSSSS”
Me: “Five. Freaking. Minutes.”
My skin: “WEEEE ARE SENNNNSITIVE. SHUT UP.”

So here I go, piling on my trusty daily SPF. I guess I’m lucky enough that I can slather on a light lotion every morning and not suffer heinous consequences of the acne variety, but I’d really suggest that everyone try it. My skin is much closer to its happier, cursing-under-its-breath-self, (“It does not care if we be burned. It does not care if we should be covered in itchy bumpses!) and I am finally preserving my lily-white skin so that when I am on a busy street and there’s a disaster and George Clooney yells, “QUICK! IS ANYONE PALER THAN THIS PIECE OF PRINTER PAPER?!” I’ll be able to promptly scoot myself to the forefront and probably save a kitten’s life or something.

Chocolate Bunnies.

Because it’s that time of year, I find myself with access to what I would like to call “my own personal brand of kryptonite”.
I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking, “This Brittney, she is so refined. She obviously is referring to the Godiva Easter Eggs or even the delicious Ferro Rocher Easter bunny candies.”

But no.

I am, of course, referring to…

The bunny-shaped chocolate dipped marshmallow.
You will see, if you click the link above, that you can, ahem, acquire a package of eight for the low, low price of $3.

And you can send them to me. Remember? I live in Oregon!

Yesterday morning was totally a normal morning. I woke up late, rolled out of bed, spent 20 minutes accessorizing an outfit only to determine that I was feeling more “springy” than “piratey” and strolled downstairs for breakfast. Totally normal morning, right?

That was, until I drowned in the puddle the size of Lake Michigan in the middle of the kitchen.

I’m not even exaggerating! (Okay, so maybe it was the size of Lake Eyrie? And well, I did drown. That sucked. But at least here in heaven we get to wear electric blue boots, and white pants after labor day, right?!) The <del datetime="2009-04-11T04:52:06+00:00">puddle</del> lake stretched from the base of our refrigerator to the center of our dining room table.

After wading into the depths and reaching the freezer, we realized that the congealed sticky-mess of sludge was in fact, the ice-cream that we hadn’t finished our previous evening. There you have it. Our refrigerator, she had passed on in the night.

Rest in peace, Barbara Jean Mullhulland. You will be sorely missed.

Seriously, though? Recent scientific advances in Refrigerator technology are entirely insane! I’m talking LED screens, temp-smart compartments, etc! I’m proud to announce to the universe that we have definetly upgraded our refrigerator. I feel like I should be admitted into a higher social network. We’ll serve cheese and wine and wear strappy heels and look down on the poor neighbors who still have a Whirlpool and talk about our tennis lessons and how absoultely faaabulous Mark is with his serve.

I bet Mark is fabulous at other things. If you catch my drift.

Anyway, I would proudly like to introduce my enormous internet fan-base to the newest addition to our appliance family:

Fitzgerald Winston Newcastle II.

(Click for larger, since my handwriting is impossible.)

…maybe next week I’ll introduce you to my microwave!

(or not.)

I don’t know if I’m lucky or cursed but my classes have lately had this tendency to be a complete waste of time, besides providing fodder for blog updates, twitter posts, and basically every other aspect of my brain besides the part that retains information about whatever subject I’m studying.

I’m trying out a new segment! We’ll see how this goes:

Because EVERYBODY ELSE picks out cool images, takes the picture and saves it to their webspace and links back… I’m going to draw them instead. Preferably when I’m on the bus. Away from the image. And have no real recollection of what it looks like. Clearly this is a profoundly soul-stretching excersize. I have no idea how to spell excersize.

Let’s start with something I hope y’all already know about:

These boots. I want them. I am not able to link back to wherever they came from, because they came from MY MIND, but I fully believe that somewhere, SOMEWHERE, they exist. I REFUSE to give up on this. (And a pair for Winona, because I promised.)

Not like, literally, my baby cows should be smaller, but, well, you know, we all have to have flaws. Luckily for me my only flaw is my calves. My huge, huge man-calves.

(MAN-calves!)

(No, really, I got them from my Dad.)

(My Dad, who is a MAN.)

This lovely bird mirror, that I found here and it is only $112, which seems pretty reasonable, I guess.
It is gorgeous, and SO ME, but I have yet to own my own apartment, wall, etc, so am a little nervous to purchase something like this (semi) sight unseen, from the internet, where it could be damaged in shipping! But I still dream about it someday being in my home.

So… I have a thing for ampersands. Yes, that’s an ampersand, or the ever-so-famous “andsign” as many people refer to it nowadays, &&&&&&&& I love them. The way they look in type and script is so awesome, and I think graphically they really pack a punch. The ampersand tote bag can be found here for a measely £10, which I think is actually a lot of money in US dollars, I honestly have no idea. I’d also love to own the “2″ bag on this website, but the “&” really is what I’m salivating after. Too bad I only own about a gazillion purses, you know.

And finally, this lovely lion necklace from ragtrader has been on my wishlist since September. I want it so! I’ve already purchased a necklace from ragtrader before, and can only rant and rave about how awesome she is. My necklace arrived promptly, it’s of great quality, and I think I get the most compiments on my clover than any other necklace I own (and that’s saying quite a bit!). I really need to add this lion to my collection, if only so I can feel more FIERCE during bad days.

What do you think? What are the things that keep returning to YOUR mind, your internet shopping wants?
