other side of the world

September 2nd, 2009 by Brittney

I have found that when someone is having a hard time, really it’s the little things that can help to make a day better.

That’s partly why I tend to focus on little good things in life, to focus on those, and to remember them when the TERRIFYING HUGE AWFUL NO GOOD things explode in our face and leave us smelling like singed kittens and butter.

I’m super girly, but one thing that never fails to make my day a little bit brighter is my octopus ring.

It’s small, cute, and quirky. I can’t wear it to work, so it is reserved for Little Days of Special Importance, such as meeting a new friend downtown, or going to get frozen yogurt with the girls.

Do you have any little things like this that make you happy? Please share!

    The ring is so cute!

For me it’s nail polish (specifically, colored nail polish). Working retail, I don’t bother with nail polish because it gets completely ruined within five minutes and I don’t have the time to maintain it.

But when I have a couple days in a row off I will paint my nails a hot shade of pink and absolutely love them.

Until I have to go back to work…

I have a special tea cup. When I’m having a bad day, I fix my self a cup of tea in my special little cup, and I always feel better. : )

Too right! The tiniest things can make all the difference. My little thing isn’t a thing, but when my gray cat is feeling really lovey he’ll headbutt me in the face. NOTHING makes me feel all warm and gushy inside like that.

A lot of my jewellery is the same for me (the octopus riing is adorable!) but if my job is getting me down then I like to wear my more out-there pieces of jewellery and see if anyone notices or says anything.

ohhhh holy smokes that is a sweet ring.

I have a few pairs of favorite underpants that I wear on special days or days when I need a little boost of confidence. I don’t really know why, since I never think about them after I’m dressed. But I guess if putting them on in the morning improves my mood, that’s enough.
