things to remember

May 8th, 2009 by Brittney

I found this image on ffffound! a few weeks ago and it has quickly become one of my most favourite things I’ve found on the internet:

I try to keep these things in mind as I experience life, and most of the time, it helps me remember to be self confident.

Just to add a few points of my own:

Everyone feels just as silly/foolish/confused as you do right now, just over different things.

If you’re going to worry about everyone else’s opinion of you at all times, you’re never going to make decisions for yourself.

A simple smile often makes everything better.

It’s always okay to say, “No,” “No, thank you,” or even, “You know, I’d love to, but I’ve got a lot on my plate right now.”

What are the little things that you guys try to keep in mind?

SO agree with your last addition. Boundaries are VITAL.

I’d add, “If you don’t ask, the answer is always, ‘no.’”

I love your list. I’d add a few items:

-Sometimes it’s better to do less at a high level than half-ass a lot of things.

-When you’re overwhelmed or stressed out, you can almost always either get help or prioritize.

@ Sal The ability to say “No” is one of my most cherished things that my mother taught me. I can’t imagine life without being able to not commit to things.

@ Anna M. Oh yes, prioritizing is hard to do, and asking for help when you’re swamped can be even harder!

    @ Julia Yay! :D

Brittney, who is also known as "Inkytwist" and "Lemon Love", is a 20-something college student (who is freaked out by the fact that she's now officially a '20-something') who likes art, the internet, dogs and correcting problems in html. No, really.
