i wanna change

April 7th, 2009 by Brittney

Today I am wearing blue tights and a skirt. I’ve been feeling pretty “super” all day, if you know what I mean!

tights: welovecolors. (Royal blue, not electric. But still! ELECTRIC.)
boots: inherited from my sister.
teapot: a gift for Mom.
my feet: are enormous.

skirt: $25; Macy’s.
belt: $9.99; Marshall’s.
shirt: $9.99; Target.
clock: amazing.

earrings: $4; Forever 21 (or XXI, as it’s called here).
makeup: covergirl.
my beautymarks: you’re jealous of them.

This pair of boots? Do they really work with this outfit? I’m not completely certain. I’m pretty comfortable walking around in them, though they do make my size 11 feet a little more ungainly. I think by virtue of the fact that I’m used to wearing flexible skimmers or tennies, and not hard leather boots that don’t flex when my feet move.

Dressing up on special (or random) days has always been a great little ego-boost for myself. Taking that extra ten (or twenty) minutes to put an outfit together, or do my makeup special really just makes the entire day go by faster!

Also I don’t mind being stared at for having legs the colour of a smurf.

I strongly believe that dressing up can make your whole day seem brighter. It really is a great ego boost, like you said!

By the way, I think it might be okay to wear the Star Trek sunglasses as long as it’s JUST ironic.

Huh, you know, I’m not sure about the boots with the outfit, but I absolutely adore the tights, especially in combo with the almost retro belt.

Also, your ‘price’ commentary cracks me up. It’s true! I am jealous of your beautymarks!

I’m not 100% on the boots with the outfit. The hem of the dress + the height of the boots isn’t quite right, but those tights are awesome!

I think I’m with Jessica on the boots. It’s only that they come a little too high for the hemline of the skirt so only a bit of your AWESOME tights peek out. Also I’m incredibly jealous of your belted look. I really need to try that. It looks adorable on you.

Outfit’s cute. Boots don’t go :) You can rock boots with this outfit but you’re going to want something with a 2-3 inch heel (stiletto, not chunky) and you want the top of the boot to hit about an inch above the widest part of your calf. Then you go from nice to Sexxxxxyyyyy! ;)

@Vanessa It’s interesting how deciding a day is going to be fancy can change your whole outlook! I love it. Also, irony makes everything better, no? Coming up next: ironic soup!

@Jessica Thanks! I know, apparently nobody liked the boots, but I plan on wearing them more often with other outfits. I think they’re like, one of the more interesting pairs I own! PS: You are sooo jealous of my beauuuutymarrrrrkssss~

@Amanda hahaha, thanks! The hardest part about skirts for me is the hem of the dress. My legs are thick and not very long, and also I love wearing spanx, and it’s hard to find a compromise in skirt / spanx length.

@Tess (OMG! Hi Tess!) I’m always afraid of when it’s okay to do the belted look. And most of the time I feel like it’s wrong, just as a word of caution. I’m glad the tights are such a hit, hahahaa.

@Jenn Thanks for the input! I have several problems with these “sexy” requirements, the first one being my size 11 feet, and the inability to walk in any kind of heel (my feet, they are shaped like flippers, I am not kidding) and also the fact that my calves are a good 3 inches wider than the average lady. I’m sure there are boots out there that I could wear, but I’m stuck with these for now! But thanks, it’s good to know the ‘official’ measurements for such items!

you have the hottest smurf leg’s i’ve ever seen.

I have those EXACT same tights! We’ll have to go out as matching smurfs ones of these days!
